Herona Community Hospital Holds Dental Camp to Celebrate the International Day of Older Persons

Kisoga, Mukono – 1 October 2026

Herona Community Hospital Kisoga marked the International Day of Older Persons in a special way by conducting a free dental camp on 1 October 2026, providing essential oral healthcare services to more than 200 patients from the surrounding communities.

The dental camp was organised as part of Herona Community Hospital’s commitment to improving access to healthcare and promoting the health and dignity of older persons and the wider community.

Over 200 Patients Receive Free Dental Services

During the camp, more than 200 patients received free dental examinations and treatment from the Herona dental team. The services provided included:

  • Free dental examinations
  • Dental scaling
  • Dental extractions
  • Teeth polishing
  • Dental health education and advice
  • Prosthetic tooth services for patients who needed tooth replacement

The camp provided an important opportunity for community members, particularly older persons, to have their dental health assessed and receive treatment that they might otherwise have found difficult to access.

Restoring Smiles Through Prosthetic Teeth

One of the highlights of the dental camp was the provision of prosthetic teeth to several patients who had lost their natural teeth.

For many older people, missing teeth can affect eating, speaking, confidence and overall quality of life. Through the camp, Herona Community Hospital was able to help restore smiles and improve the daily lives of several beneficiaries.

Celebrating Older Persons Through Better Healthcare

The International Day of Older Persons is an opportunity to recognise the contribution of older people to families, communities and society, while also highlighting the importance of ensuring that they have access to appropriate healthcare and live with dignity.

Herona Community Hospital chose to commemorate the day through practical healthcare services that directly benefited the community.

The dental camp demonstrated that oral health is an important part of overall health at every stage of life, including old age. Regular dental examinations, proper oral hygiene and timely treatment can help prevent complications and improve quality of life.

Herona’s Commitment to the Community

Herona Community Hospital Kisoga remains committed to bringing affordable and accessible healthcare services closer to the people of Mukono South Constituency and neighbouring communities.

The success of the 1 October dental camp reflects Herona’s continued efforts to combine healthcare delivery with community outreach, ensuring that people who may face barriers to accessing healthcare can receive the attention and treatment they need.

Herona Community Hospital extends its appreciation to the dental team, staff, partners, volunteers and community members who contributed to the success of the camp.

At Herona Community Hospital, we believe that every smile matters, every person deserves quality healthcare, and older persons deserve to live healthy and dignified lives.
