Herona Community Hospital Kisoga Appeals for Support to Transport Donated Medical Equipment to Uganda From U.SA
Herona Community Hospital Kisoga is appealing to well-wishers, partners, and friends to support the importation and transportation of a 40-foot container filled with vital theatre and hospital equipment generously donated from the United States.
The container, valued at over USD 700,000 contains a wide range of essential medical and surgical equipment including:
- Anaesthetic machines
- Endoscopy and fluoroscopy machines
- Ultrasound machines
- Digital X-ray machines
- Ventilators
- c arm
- Laparoscopic equipment
- Theatre lights
- operating tables
- And other critical theatre and diagnostic tools
These machines will greatly enhance Herona Community Hospital’s capacity to provide advanced surgical, diagnostic, and critical care services to patients from Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga, and other surrounding districts who currently travel long distances to access such specialized treatment.
A charitable organization in the United States has already contributed USD 25,000 toward this cause. However, the hospital still needs to raise USD 18,600 to cover the packing and freight costs to transport the container safely to Kisoga, Uganda.
These costs include DAP (Delivered at Place) rates, covering the coordination of origin pick-up, chassis rental for three days, and ocean freight from the port of loading to the specific port of discharge.
However, DAP rates exclude duties, taxes, demurrage, detention, port storage, additional documentation charges, courier fees (if applicable), and trucking accessorial charges — making community support essential to complete this process.
The hospital management has expressed deep gratitude to all who have supported its mission to improve healthcare accessibility and quality in Uganda.
“This equipment will transform the level of medical care we can offer at Herona Community Hospital. We humbly appeal to well-wishers and partners to stand with us so that this life-saving equipment can reach Kisoga and begin serving our people,” said the Hospital Administrator.
