Herona Community Hospital Resumes Cataract Surgeries with IMET2000

Herona Community Hospital is proud to announce the resumption of its life-changing cataract surgery program, bringing renewed hope to hundreds of patients suffering from preventable blindness across Uganda.

This milestone has been made possible through the continued support of IMET2000, whose commitment to improving eye health in underserved communities has enabled our hospital to restore sight and dignity to those in need. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Kathy Green and the entire IMET2000 team for their unwavering generosity and partnership.

Cataracts remain one of the leading causes of blindness in Uganda, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations who often lack access to specialized surgical care. At Herona Community Hospital, we are driven by a mission to bridge this gap. The resumption of these surgeries marks a significant step forward in addressing the growing backlog of patients awaiting treatment.

Our cataract program is not only about restoring vision—it is about restoring independence, productivity, and quality of life. Patients who once struggled with daily activities are now regaining their sight and returning to their families and communities with renewed confidence.

In Uganda, access to highly specialized visual restoration services remains limited.
