Dr. David Luengas Visits Herona Community Hospital and Performs 50 Free Successful Thyroid Surgeries

Herona Community Hospital was honored to host Dr. David Luengas during a special surgical medical mission aimed at improving access to specialized thyroid care for the people of Ntenjeru South Constituency.

During his visit, Dr. Luengas successfully performed over 50 free thyroid surgeries at the hospital, bringing hope and healing to many patients who had long suffered from thyroid-related conditions but could not afford specialized surgical treatment. The surgeries were conducted successfully with the support of the Herona Community Hospital medical team and local healthcare workers.

The outreach greatly benefited vulnerable patients from rural communities who often face challenges accessing advanced surgical care due to financial limitations and long travel distances. Families and community leaders expressed deep appreciation for the life-changing initiative and the compassionate care provided to patients throughout the surgical camp.

Dr. David is an experienced general and digestive system surgeon with extensive expertise in advanced surgical procedures and medical training. He has served in senior surgical roles at leading hospitals in Madrid, Spain, including Quirónsalud University Hospital and La Paz University Hospital. Dr. Luengas is also recognized for his commitment to medical education and international healthcare collaboration.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, hospital administrators thanked Dr. Luengas for dedicating his time, skills, and expertise to serve the people of Uganda and support the growth of surgical care at Herona Community Hospital.
