The clinic was officially launched by his highness King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II in 2018
It started out as a one-person service manned by an Ophthalmology Clinical Officer (OCO) offering screening, preventive and curative services to clients with ocular ailments. Three years back, an ophthalmologist DR. SUSAN KIKIRA was brought on board in order to expand the range and quality of eye serv offered by the eye clinic.She leads the team that does cataract surgeries
The unit is open daily from 8am to 5pm and offers outreach services to the neighboring community
the clinic offers the following services
- Eye exams: Comprehensive eye exams that include a prescription for glasses and an evaluation of eye health
- Eye disease screenings: routine eye screeening
- Contact lens fitting: Includes corneal health assessment, contact lens insertion and removal, and contact lens hygiene education
- LASIK consultation: Includes an evaluation of the patient’s candidacy for laser eye surgery
- Retinal imaging: Includes retinal photography with FAF imaging
- Eye surgery: Includes trauma, crossed eyes, cataracts, and glaucoma
- Plastic surgery: Includes drooping eyelids and smoothing wrinkles
- Eye drop production: Some clinics produce their own eye drops
- Fundus imaging: Some clinics offer fundus imaging
- Visual field testing and analysis: Some clinics offer visual field testing and analysis
- Diagnosis and treatment: Some clinics diagnose and treat eye conditions related to other diseases, such as diabetes
The clinic is open Monday to friday from 8AM to 5pm
