Herona Community Hospital Represented at Annual Facility Managers’ Meeting at Kawempe National Referral Hospital

Herona Community Hospital was well represented at the Annual Facility Managers’ Meeting held at Kawempe National Referral Hospital, a key forum aimed at reviewing health service delivery, sharing experiences, and strengthening coordination among health facilities within the Kampala Metropolitan area.

The hospital was represented by its Manager for the Kampala Metropolitan LNMS, demonstrating Herona Community Hospital’s active engagement in regional and national health systems strengthening initiatives.

The meeting was led by Dr. Byaruhanga Emmanuel Kayogoza, the Executive Director of Kawempe National Referral Hospital, who guided discussions and emphasized the importance of collaboration, accountability, and quality improvement across health facilities.

During the meeting, Dr. Nanzira presented a comprehensive briefing on the key achievements and challenges experienced at Kawempe National Referral Hospital, highlighting progress made as well as areas requiring further support and innovation.

Dr. Sam Ononge shared key achievements of Mulago Specialized Women’s Hospital, particularly in advancing maternal and specialized women’s health services, and underscored the value of coordinated referral systems within the metropolitan region.

The meeting also featured key remarks from Dr. Bagala John Paul, Assistant Commissioner for Reproductive Health, who provided national-level guidance on reproductive health priorities, quality of care, and strengthening maternal and neonatal health services.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Oralo Charles, Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, commended health facility managers for their commitment to service delivery and encouraged continued collaboration to improve health outcomes.

The meeting further highlighted the important roles of Kampala Metropolitan LNMS (Logistics and Supply Chain Management Systems) in ensuring uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and health supplies, as well as MPDSR (Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response) in improving maternal and newborn health outcomes through systematic review and action.

Also in attendance were the District Health Officer (DHO) and Assistant District Health Officer (ADHO), Dr. Mulindwa, alongside Dr. Dumba Isaac, whose participation reinforced district-level leadership and coordination in healthcare delivery.
