Herona Community Hospital Joins the LINDA-FAMILIA Project: A Major Milestone for 2026

Herona Community Hospital is delighted to share great news at the start of 2026. In January 2026, the hospital was officially assessed and approved by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to be part of the LINDA-FAMILIA Project, a landmark four-year digital health initiative aimed at protecting mothers and children across East Africa.

About the LINDA-FAMILIA Project
LINDA-FAMILIA is a four-year digital health project being led by University College Cork (UCC). The project focuses on improving maternal, newborn, and child health by using smart digital tools to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases. Through digital data systems, decision-support tools, and strengthened health information management, LINDA-FAMILIA seeks to save lives by enabling faster diagnosis, better follow-up of patients, and stronger links between communities and health facilities.

The project emphasizes:

  • Improved maternal and child health outcomes
  • Early detection and control of infectious diseases
  • Use of digital technologies to strengthen primary healthcare
  • Capacity building for health workers
  • Strong collaboration between public institutions, private facilities, and academic partners

Being selected to participate in this project is a strong recognition of Herona Community Hospital’s commitment to quality care, innovation, and service to the community.

A Strong Public–Private Partnership
Herona Community Hospital is deeply grateful to the Mukono District Local Government, under the leadership of Dr. Mulindwa Stephen, for the continued support and guidance that made this achievement possible. This milestone reflects the strength of a successful public–private partnership, where government leadership and private health providers work together to improve health outcomes for the population.

The support from Mukono District Local Government has been instrumental in aligning Herona Community Hospital with national health priorities and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health standards, paving the way for inclusion in transformative projects such as LINDA-FAMILIA.

Looking Ahead
As part of the LINDA-FAMILIA Project, Herona Community Hospital looks forward to contributing to innovative digital health solutions that will improve care for mothers and children in Mukono District and beyond. We are committed to working closely with the Ministry of Health, University College Cork, district leadership, and other partners to ensure the success and sustainability of this important initiative.

We thank all our partners, staff, and the community for their continued trust and support as we step into 2026 with renewed commitment to saving lives through innovation and collaboration.
