Herona Community Hospital Completes Its Free Cataract Surgeries for 2025
Herona Community Hospital is proud to announce the successful completion of its free cataract surgery program for the year 2025 — a transformative initiative that has brought renewed vision and hope to hundreds of individuals across the region.
Since the launch of the Eye Clinic by Prof. Colin, the hospital has steadily expanded its capacity to offer high-quality, compassionate eye care to underserved communities. This year marks an extraordinary milestone: more than 800 free cataract surgeries have been successfully performed.
The program has restored sight to elderly patients, breadwinners, caregivers, and young people who had struggled with impaired vision for years. Many of these individuals would not have accessed surgery due to financial barriers or long travel distances, making Herona Community Hospital’s outreach deeply impactful.
The hospital’s dedicated eye team—comprising surgeons, nurses, technicians, and support staff—has worked tirelessly throughout the year to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Each surgical camp has been met with overwhelming community turnout, showing the high demand for accessible eye services.
Hospital leadership expressed gratitude to the partners, volunteers, and community mobilizers who contributed to the success of the initiative. They also extended heartfelt appreciation to Prof. Colin, whose leadership and vision laid the foundation for a clinic that continues to change lives.
As Herona Community Hospital looks ahead, the commitment remains firm: to expand access to quality eye care, reach more remote communities, and ensure that preventable blindness becomes a problem of the past.
With over 800 people already seeing clearly again, 2025 stands as a year of achievement, compassion, and renewed hope for countless families.
