Herona Community Hospital Extends Gratitude to Surgeons and Community for Successful Surgical Outreach in Kisoga
Herona Community Hospital proudly extends heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated team of surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and support staff who successfully conducted a four-and-a-half-day surgical outreach that brought free medical care to the people of Kisoga and surrounding communities. The outreach, which focused on treating hernias and related conditions, was a remarkable demonstration of teamwork, compassion, and service to humanity.
Over the course of the program, a total of 88 patients received treatment, and 95 surgical procedures were performed. Among these were 76 men and 20 women aged between 18 and 84 years, as well as 12 paediatric patients aged between 18 months and 17 years. The surgical team worked tirelessly to ensure that every patient received quality care and a renewed chance at a healthier life.
The conditions treated included:
- Inguinal hernias: 68 cases (7 bilateral)
- Femoral hernias: 5 cases
- Epigastric hernias: 5 cases
- Umbilical hernias: 11 cases
- Hydroceles: 4 cases
- Lymphadenopathy: 1 case
- Epidermoid cyst: 1 case
Each procedure represented a story of relief and renewed hope for patients who had long suffered from these conditions, many of whom could not afford surgical care elsewhere. The outreach reaffirmed Herona Community Hospital’s commitment to its mission of “Serving our community regardless.”
