Herona Community Hospital Kisoga Medical Outreach at St. Andrews Church Ssenyi
Herona Community Hospital Kisoga, in partnership with St. Andrews Church Ssenyi and with generous support from IMET 2000, conducted a successful medical outreach aimed at improving community health and promoting eye care awareness. The outreach took place at St. Andrews Church Ssenyi and attracted a large number of community members seeking medical assistance and health education.
The camp focused on providing free eye treatment and screening services. Patients diagnosed with cataracts were identified and booked for free cataract surgery at Herona Community Hospital. This initiative aimed to restore sight and improve the quality of life for individuals affected by preventable blindness.
Recognizing the link between chronic illnesses and visual impairment, the outreach also included free screening for diabetes and HIV. Early detection of these conditions plays a crucial role in preventing complications that can lead to vision loss. Participants received counseling and guidance on managing their health effectively.
In addition to medical services, the outreach featured health talks on oral hygiene, HIV prevention, and common eye diseases. These sessions empowered community members with knowledge to maintain better personal and family health.
Herona Community Hospital Kisoga extends heartfelt gratitude to IMET 2000 for their unwavering support, to St. Andrews Church Ssenyi for hosting the event, and to all Herona staff members whose dedication made the outreach a success. The collaboration demonstrated the power of community partnerships in promoting health and well-being for all.
